Choosing Baitcasting Rods for Your Setup

This range includes a 1.5m five-section casting rod, 1.8m and 2.4m telescopic rods, plus 2.1m and 2.4m baitcaster combos. Your best choice depends on the space available for casting, transport requirements and whether you already own a reel.

1.5m Casting Rod: Short and Portable

The 1.5m five-section rod is the shortest option in this range. Its compact working length suits anglers who prefer a shorter rod for close-range lure placement or fishing where handling space is limited. The separate sections allow it to pack down for transport.

1.8m Telescopic Casting Rod: A Manageable Middle Option

The 1.8m telescopic rod provides more reach than the 1.5m model while remaining relatively short and easy to handle. Choose this length if you value manoeuvrability and a rod that collapses for storage between trips.

2.4m Telescopic Baitcasting Rod: Extra Reach

The 2.4m telescopic rod offers the most reach among the rod-only options. It provides more scope for longer casting strokes where there is clear space around you. However, casting distance also depends on the lure weight, line, reel settings and your technique.

Rod Only or Baitcaster Combo?

Choose a rod-only model if you already have a suitable baitcasting reel. The 2.1m and 2.4m combos provide an alternative when you need both a rod and reel. Compare each combo's included line and tackle before purchasing, as package contents can differ.

Match Your Reel, Line and Lures

Baitcasting rods are designed for baitcaster reels mounted above the rod. Check the individual rod's stated line and casting-weight ratings against your intended setup; a longer rod does not automatically handle heavier lures.

If you are learning to use a baitcaster, begin with controlled casts and practise slowing the spool with your thumb as the lure lands. A comfortable rod length and a lure within its casting rating make practice easier.

For rod-only purchases, compare our left-handed and right-handed baitcasting reels to choose your preferred winding side.
