Grey, Silver Mirror or Rainbow?

Choose grey tint snow goggles when natural-looking colours and reduced brightness matter most. They are the most neutral lens colour in this range.

Consider the silver mirror snow goggles for bright alpine days when reflected light is likely to be uncomfortable. However, no VLT percentage is supplied, so they cannot be confirmed as darker than the other tinted models.

The 182mm rainbow tint model provides broad coverage and includes a protective storage bag. Alternatively, the black-frame rainbow goggles provide a similar bright-day lens style at a lower price.

Is It Worth Buying Two Pairs?

Two pairs can be useful, although they should have clearly different purposes. Select a grey, silver mirror or rainbow model as your main bright-day pair. Then keep one of the budget ski goggles or budget snowboard goggles in your vehicle or gear bag as a spare.

A backup pair can save the day when a lens becomes scratched, the padding remains damp from the previous session or someone arrives without goggles. It can also be useful for a friend or family member who only skis occasionally.

Buying both grey and rainbow or silver goggles gives you two appearance choices. However, all three named lens colours in this range are intended mainly for bright daytime use. Purchasing two of these tints does not necessarily provide a dedicated option for fog, heavy cloud or flat light.

Check the VLT Rating for Low Light

Visible Light Transmission, usually shown as a VLT percentage, measures how much visible light passes through a lens. Lower percentages generally suit bright conditions, while higher percentages suit darker and overcast conditions.

The current tinted models have UV400 specifications, but their VLT percentages have not been supplied. UV400 refers to ultraviolet coverage; it does not state how light or dark the lens will appear. Therefore, these goggles should not be treated as dedicated low-light, storm or night lenses unless a suitable VLT rating is confirmed.

Consider Fit and Comfort

Before choosing, compare the lens dimensions with your face and helmet. The larger rainbow and silver mirror models measure approximately 182mm wide and 104mm high. The grey and black-frame rainbow models measure approximately 17.5cm wide and 9.5cm high.

Look for a secure strap position, comfortable face padding and minimal space between the goggles and helmet. Store the lens carefully after use because scratches can become particularly noticeable in bright reflected light.
