Product Description
Use our bicycle chain checker tool to check for chain wear which could result in poor gear shifting. If your chain is worn then it is best to replace it for more efficient changing of your mountain bike or road bikes gears.
Also if you take too long to replace your bike chain then it could result in more expensive repair. Such repair could involve replacing your cogs so routine checking could save you a lot of money long term.
How to Check Chain Wear
If you want to know how to check chain wear, it's easy with this tool. Simply lock the the hook end of the checker tool into a chain link with inner plates as shown below. Then drop down the other end down into the chain. If this end fits inside the link then your bike's chain has worn and may need to be replaced. If the chain wear checker tool does not fit inside your chain using the 1% or .75% checker then your chain is okay and doesn't need to be replaced.Guide for when to replace your Bike Chain
Typically if your chain uses 10 or fewer rear gears then it should be replaced if your chain wear is greater than .75%. If you are using a system with 11 or more rear gears then your chain should be replaced if the wear is more than 1%. Bikes with just 2 sprockets should have chain replaced when wear is over 1%. Replacing your bicycles chain sooner rather than later could prevent wear to your gears.Bicycle Chain Checker Tool Specifications
